How to Play Music

The MSTRJK music player lets you stream high-quality audio from our catalog. This guide covers everything you need to know about playing music.

Playing Your First Song

Finding Music

  1. Click "Music" in the navigation
  2. Browse albums or use the search bar
  3. Click on any track to view details
  4. Click the Play button to start streaming

No account required to stream music!

Music Player Controls

When you play a track, the player appears at the bottom of your screen.

Basic Controls

  • Play/Pause Button - Start or pause playback
  • Skip Back - Go to the previous track
  • Skip Forward - Go to the next track
  • Progress Bar - Shows current position, click to skip
  • Volume Slider - Adjust volume (0-100%)

Spacebar Play/Pause Left Arrow Skip backward Right Arrow Skip forward Up Arrow Volume up Down Arrow Volume down

Tip: Keyboard shortcuts work when the music player is in focus!

Player Modes

Single Track Play

  • Click any track to play it
  • Player will stop after the track ends

Album Play

  • Click "Play Album" to queue all tracks
  • Tracks play in order
  • Skip between tracks with arrow buttons

Playlist Play

  • Create a playlist (account required)
  • Click "Play Playlist" to queue all songs
  • Shuffle and repeat options available

Synced Lyrics & Chords

Many tracks include synchronized lyrics and chord charts!

Viewing Lyrics

  1. Play a track that has lyrics
  2. Click the "Lyrics" button in the player
  3. Lyrics highlight in sync with the music

Viewing Chords

  1. Click the "Chords" button (when available)
  2. See guitar chords displayed alongside lyrics
  3. Perfect for playing along!

Note: Not all tracks have lyrics or chords. Availability varies by release.

Understanding Music Player Terms

Before using the music player for the first time, you'll need to accept the Music Player Terms of Use.

What the Terms Cover

  • Streaming only - Music is for streaming, not downloading (unless purchased separately)
  • Personal use - For your own enjoyment only
  • No recording - Don't attempt to rip, record, or save streams
  • No commercial use - Can't use streamed music in videos, ads, etc.

Audio Quality

Streaming Format

  • HLS (HTTP Live Streaming) for adaptive quality
  • High-quality audio optimized for your connection
  • No quality settings - automatically optimized

Connection Requirements

  • Stable internet connection recommended
  • Minimum 1 Mbps for smooth playback
  • 3-5 Mbps for best experience

Troubleshooting Playback Issues

No Sound

✓ Check your device volume
✓ Check the player volume slider
✓ Try a different browser
✓ Disable browser extensions
✓ Check your headphones/speakers

Buffering or Skipping

✓ Check your internet connection
✓ Close other bandwidth-heavy apps
✓ Reload the page
✓ Try again in a few minutes

Track Won't Play

✓ Refresh the page
✓ Try a different browser
✓ Clear your browser cache
✓ Check if the track is still available
✓ Contact support if the issue persists

Player Not Visible

✓ Scroll to the bottom of the page
✓ The player appears when you click play on any track
✓ Try reloading the page

Browsing Music

Search

  • Use the search bar in the Music section
  • Search by track name, artist, or album
  • Results update as you type

Filter by Artist

  • Browse artist pages
  • View complete discographies
  • See all tracks from that artist

Album View

  • View track listings
  • See album credits and information
  • Play entire albums start to finish
